Why October works
Weather you can work in. Days run 20–25°C, and evenings cool to 14–16°C, so a light layer is plenty. Yes, October is one of the island's wetter months, but that's only about 5–7 rainy days. The rain usually arrives as a short, dramatic burst and then clears to blue sky.
The sea is still warm. It averages 21–23°C, and early October can reach 24–25°C. Swim before work, or use it to beat the 3pm slump.
The island exhales. Es Trenc, Cala Figuera and Cala Mondragó go back to being quiet coves. La Seu Cathedral and the vintage Sóller train no longer come with summer queues, and it's harvest season, with autumn fairs in Santanyí, Campos and Ses Salines. The only queue you'll join is for coffee.
